Taytay is a 1st class municipality in the province of Palawan, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 53,657 people in 10,083 households.

Brief History
Taytay was founded in 1622.
It was the first capital of the province (1859-73) and an important military base.
The town’s name was either derived from the word talaytayan (meaning “bridge”) or from Taitai, the wife of a Chinese trader or seafarer.
